Does Radiccio work with the media playback keys on Apple keyboards?
Yes, even when Radiccio is not in the foreground. This is a convenient way to control Radiccio.
How about non-Apple keyboards?
If the media playback keys work with other apps on macOS, they will probably work with Radiccio. However, there are many third-party keyboards and we cannot test them all, so we cannot say for sure.
Why do the media playback keys sometimes not work after watching internet videos?
The media playback keys control the app which most recently started playing audio or video. Sometimes after watching a video on a web site, your web browser app (such as Safari) “holds on” to control over the keys for a while after you have stopped watching the video, even after you have closed the browser tab. So when you press the “play” key, it sends a “play” command to the browser, but the browser has nothing to play (because the video has ended or the tab was closed), so nothing happens.
To resolve this, simply start playback in Radiccio again using another method (such as the on-screen play button in Radiccio, or the Dock menu). After you do this, the media playback keys should work with Radiccio once again.
If this doesn’t resolve the issue, look in Control Center to find out which app is “now playing” (even if it is not actually playing). Try quitting and then reopening whichever app that is. This should be enough to get it to relinquish control over the media playback keys.
