What is a source?
A source has audio content that you can listen to in Radiccio. You need at least one source in order to use Radiccio. You can have more than one source, and switch between them at any time.
If you have files on your Mac, we call that an “On My Mac” source.
Other types of sources are subscription services, or personal servers.
What types of sources does Radiccio support?
- On My Mac (i.e., files on a disk)
- Apple Music
- Plex
- Jellyfin
Some source types require Radiccio Plus!
Will Radiccio support more sources in the future?
We generally don’t announce specific future plans, but we are interested to hear about what’s important to you! Please write to feedback@radiccio.music.
Will Radiccio add support for Spotify?
We do not believe we would be allowed to do this, based on our understanding of Spotify’s developer terms and policies.
Which source type should I choose?
If your music is in Apple Music:
-
If you have DRM-free audio files in your Apple Music folder on your Mac, ideally, we recommend that you copy or move your audio files to a new location, and then add the new location as an “On My Mac” source. If you additionally choose to enable Librarian, this will give you the best possible experience, as you will have access to all of the features that Radiccio has to offer.
-
If you have a paid Apple Music subscription, you can also add an Apple Music source to Radiccio so that you can enjoy your subscription benefits, such as Apple Music catalog and radio.
-
If you don’t want to copy or move your files (or none are downloaded), you can add an Apple Music source and access your files through the “library” section. Some of Radiccio’s features will not be available.
-
If you are considering adding your Apple Music library as an “On My Mac” source without copying or moving the files, please read this first.
If your music is not in Apple Music:
We recommend trying the “On My Mac” source type with Librarian enabled, in order to experience all of the features that Radiccio has to offer.
There is no need to copy or move files – any folder where your audio files are already located will work fine. Radiccio doesn’t make changes to your audio files.
If you have a Plex or Jellyfin server, those are also great choices. We encourage you to give them a try and find out what works best for you.
