What is Radiccio?

Radiccio is a music player for Mac computers. It can play music files on your Mac, as well as music from external sources like Apple Music, Plex, and Jellyfin.

How do I start using Radiccio?

First, add a source. Radiccio supports several source types. You can use the “+” button in the sidebar, or from the File menu, choose “Add Source”.

Radiccio will guide you through the steps needed to add the source. For an “On My Mac” source, you will need to choose the folder on your Mac where the files are located. For other source types, the specific steps will vary.

Note that some source types require Radiccio Plus! A free trial is available for eligible customers. Plus! is not required for your first “On My Mac” source, or for Apple Music.

After you have added a source, it appears in the left sidebar. (You can also choose a source from the Source menu in the menubar.)

Select your source from the sidebar (or the menu), and you will be presented with several options for how to navigate through your music collection, such as: Artists, Albums, Songs, Playlists, and Folders. (Depending on the source type, only some of these may be shown.)

Once you find something you want to listen to, click it to begin playback.

How can I obtain music to listen to with Radiccio?

Some source types provide music. For example, if you have a paid subscription to Apple Music, you can access a lot of music through the catalog, and add music you like to your library.

If you are using an “On My Mac” source, you will have to provide your own music files for Radiccio to play.

We think a great way to support the musicians you love is to buy full albums through their preferred storefront. Although music is widely available through affordable streaming services, some news reports have indicated that musicians do not get paid very well from streaming subscriptions.

There are many web sites where you can purchase and download music files, but they are not all the same; the payouts that musicians receive can vary greatly between them, even when the price you pay is the same. So, it is worth checking with each musician to find out which specific storefront they would prefer for you to buy from. You can often find this mentioned in their social media pages or on their web sites. If you can’t find that information easily, you might find success in contacting them directly.

Thank you for supporting musicians! Your support is what makes their music possible.

Also, keep in mind: When you download music, it needs to be one of our supported formats in order for it to work with Radiccio. This is unlikely to be a problem, since we support the most common formats. But it’s a good idea to check just to be sure.

How do you pronounce Radiccio? What does it mean?

We pronounce it like “ruh-DEE-chee-oh”. We apologize to any Italians who may be reading this.

The name is similar to, but not the same as, a type of lettuce. However, the name of the vegetable (in English) contains an “H”, which our name lacks. The two words are pronounced differently. The color is different, too.

We like to think that the name could mean something like “little radio”. We apologize again to the Italians.

The app icon is meant to evoke lettuce leafs, and also sound waves.
